Northern Malaysia has many exciting and adventurous options available to make your trip here a worthwhile, enjoyable and educational experience. All of these places are a short drive away from the Resort. These are just some of the "must see" attractions available:

1. BUKIT WANG RECREATIONAL PARK

The park is located approx 20 km from the Resort. It's an ideal picnic area with its waterfall direct from the mountain. Unique landscape of rocks provide an ideal place for swimming, picnics and recreation. A wide variety of flora and fauna that encompasses lowland forest can be found here.
2. BUKIT KAYU HITAM DUTY FREE COMPLEX

The border town of Bukit Kayu Hitam is located approx 25 km from the Resort and is the main entrance to Thailand on the West Coast. Visitors will be able to find a duty-free complex here in the town. Also available are many local handicrafts and food products at very good bargains plus clothing items in a dazzling array of colours.

3. BLACK FORREST GOLF COURSE

Black Forest Golf and Country Club is an 18-hole par 72 championship golf course with a total yardage of 7110. Located at Bukit Kayu Hitam, Kedah - the Malaysia/Thailand border - within the only gazetted duty free zone in Northern Malaysia.

Sculpted out of the natural lush forest with undulating fairways, the international golfing resort offers both challenging and pleasurable golfing experiences.

Flanked on the east by a primary forest covering 70 acres, and rubber and sugar cane plantations on the west,  Black Forest captures the perfect balance of a nature's beauty and challenge.

4. DARULAMAN GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUB

Set amidst sprawling acres of beautiful, undulating, lush landscape and blessed with year-round sunshine, Darulaman Golf and Country Club presents a premier golfing experience in Kedah. The 18-hole golf course features a par 72 layout of 6340 metres spread across 190 acres of beautiful, distinctive and challenging golf environment. Imaginative course designer, Ted Parslow of E & G Parslow Associates (Australia), ensures golfers an exciting and dramatic golfing experience.

Technically, the course is fair but challenging featuring natural water hazards and sand bunkers dotted skilfully across Greenland Park Bermuda fairways, tees and roughs, and slick Bermuda Tifdwarf and aprons to challenge, test and thrill both professionals and amateurs.

Moreover, full course irrigation and sub-surface drainage ensure golfers the best possible playing surfaces all year round. Visually, the gentle, subtle slopes and sapphire blue lakes framed by existing rubber trees against a scenic backdrop of lush green hills pay tribute to the splendour of nature. Ultimately, golfers can expect a richly rewarding golfing experience.

5. PEKAN RABU

"Pekan Rabu" which literally means Wednesday Market which is located in the middle of Alor Setar is well known among the local population and tourists from outside Kedah. The business complex is not only the pride of Malay entrepreneurs in Kedah but also the pride of all Malay's in Kedah. Moreover the fourth Malaysian Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir, once was a trader in Pekan Rabu. Most tourists visiting Alor Setar make it a point to shop around at the Pekan Rabu Complex.

6. PASAR MALAM (Night Market)

Every Friday night in Napoh Town, just 4km from the Resort. A wide variety of street snacks and other shopping bargains.

7. LEMBAH BUJANG

Lembah Buiang, lying between Gunung Jerai in the north and Sungai Muda in the south, is regarded as Malaysia's richest archaeological area.

The Bujang Valley Archaeological Museum in Pengkalan Bujang, Merbok houses numerous artificial stone caskets, gem stones, beads, etc. Fifty (50) candis or temples were found along Sungai Bujang and to date eight (8) of them have been restored to their original form using the same original materials, visitors interested in history and archaeology should not miss out on this area in Kedah.

8. GUNUNG JERAI

Formerly known as Kedah Peak, Gunung Jerai is a massive limestone outcrop rising 1200 m above sea level, south of Alor Setar in Kedah. The cool, fresh mountain air is matched by the quiet serenity of its natural surroundings. On clear days, different vantage points on the mountain offer spectacular views of the rolling rice fields of Kedah stretching up to Perlis in the North; the emerald seas surround Penang in the South-West and the legendary islands of Langkawi in the North-West.

This magnificent mountain is has its own share of history and fascinating legends.The discovery of the ruins of Hindu and Buddhist temples at the foot of the hills established its importance as an ancient centre of Hindu civilisation within the region. Varied tales also abound about the famous 'Raja Bersiong' ( the king with fangs ) who once held sway over an ancient kingdom within the Bujang Valley at the foot of the mountains. Recent archaeological findings reveal the existence of the Temple on the Ninth Water pool ( Chandi Telaga Sembilan ) - many believe this pool to be the private pool of Raja Bersiong. Indeed , amidst such majestic surrounding, its would be difficult to separate fact from fiction.

9. TUN MAHATHIR'S HOUSE

The wooden attap house was bought by Mohamad Iskandar when he wanted to marry off his children. It was built in 1900. When he bought the house, the house has only one room with no electricity. It has wooden flooring and the ceiling was made from white cloth. Mahathir was born here on 20th December 1925. He lives there until he was married and moved to his own house in Titi Gajah. Even then Mahathir will always commute to this house to visit his mother.

A visit to Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad's birth place will give you a different perspective of the life of this revered leader.

He was born in Alor Star on Dec 20, 1925 at No 18 Lorong Kilang Ais, off Jalan Pegawai. His home has seen been designated a historical building and was restored by the National Archives in 1992.

When visiting this place, you will be able to view items from his childhood to his schooldays to the time he became a doctor. There are photos, furniture and other household items. You can even take a look at his old bicycle!

10. ALOR SETAR MUSEUM

As a state museum, it houses a large collection of Kedah's historical, culture, and royal heritages. The collection includes early Chinese porcelain, artefacts from the archaeological excavations in Lembah Bujang (Bujang Valley) and a fabulous pokok bunga emas or 'gold tree' produced as a tribute to the Thais.

The museum is also a research centre on Kedah's civilisation. Before the present premise was built in 1936, the museum - officially opened by the then Kedah Mentri Besar Tan Sri Tunku Ismail Tunku Yahya (Tunku indera Setia), on February 3, 1957 - was located in the Balai Besar (Grand Hall).

11. MUZIUM PADI, GUNUNG KERIANG

Kedah is the Rice Bowl of Malaysia and situated at the foothills of Gunung Keriang, this museum contains a wealth of information about rice from the beginning stages of planting it to the rice that ends up on our dinner table. It is surrounded by amazing vista’s of paddy fields and quaint village houses.

Learn all about rice cultivation and the harvesting process. Also learn about how Rice is graded and the equipment related to all aspects of the industry. There is also a section of traditional fishing and the various fish found in paddy fields.

There is an amazing art gallery on the 3rd floor and if you make it to the top of the building, just a short 59 steps, you get a wonderful panoramic view of the surrounding countryside.

12. THAI TEMPLES

Samnak Sirinikhomvanaram and Wat Boonyaram are two beautiful Thai temples located very near to the resort. The temples always welcome visitors and you can view the intricate architecture, enjoy the sense of peace in their temple compounds and get a blessing from the resident monks. Please dress appropriately.

13. CHUPING SUGARCANE PLANTATION, PERLIS

Ever wonder how sugar arrives to your table? This is one of the most interesting sites to visit and yet also the least known. Chuping derived its name from the limestone hill known locally as Bukit Chuping. It has an area of 22,000 hectare sugar plantation and harvesting takes place in December till June. Visit the plantation to see how sugar is planted, harvested and processed and view the magnificent landscape of the surrounding area.

14. SNAKE FARM, PERLIS

Perlis is noted for its large population of venomous snakes, the limestone caves and crevices offering the best of natural habitats for the slithery creatures. The Snake Farm at Sungai Batu Pahat houses a large collection of 23 species of live snakes in large open-air enclosures. In addition, there is a crocodile and a fish pond.

It is open daily from 10.00am to 4.15pm.

15. GUA KELAM

Gua Kelam, Kaki Bukit refers to the 370-metre long limestone cave at the small town of Kaki Bukit. Its name literally means "at a foothill (Kaki Bukit) lies a dark cave (Gua Kelam)". Access to the cave is by way of a suspension bridge. The uniqueness of approach, as well as the experience of walking along the bridge, make a visit to this place an intriguing and adventurous experience.

A subterranean stream flows in the limestone range near Kaki Bukit for about a quarter of a mile long. As in other limestone areas, the stream has built a long cavern over the centuries. This physiographic phenomenon was enlarged throughout the length of the underground stream in 1935 by a resident Englishman who saw it as a marvellous way of transporting tin ore from a mine located near the stream entrance through the underground cavern.

A wooden walkway hangs suspended throughout the length of the underground cavern providing a wondrous means of communication from Kaki Bukit to a valley on the opposite end - the Wan Tangga Valley.

16. PADANG BESAR

This is a border town. It can be said with some degree of truth that Thailand and Perlis merge in this town, because the border is unseen although the relevant signboards and cheek - points bear testimony to the fact. The town is also the major stopover from rail travel to Thailand.

Beyond the rail tracks is Pekan Siam - a bargain hunters' paradise. Besides agricultural goods, duty free shopping is also available in Padang Besar The town is filled with all shades and designs of textiles, footwear, handicrafts, decorative items, foodstuff, souvenirs, fruits and much more.
